I refuse to buy the Asparagus that is in the supermarket at the moment. It comes from Mexico and Peru. Too far to fly. I'll wait for the English crop. It's almost as bad as having strawberries all the year round......
You are not required to peel them, Dale. Peeling is simply the extra step chefs take, and note that not every chef agrees with me on this. The big ones, such as Thomas Keller, peel the asparagus, but they have hordes of workers to spend the time peeling them.

Same here. I refuse to buy Ecuadorian strawberries or other such out-of-season produce.
I LOVE asparagups! Grilled, steamed, cut up and added to so many different dishes. Oh yes... There goes all my cred... I never peel them.. my bad...
